Every ScopeMCP tool: what it does, when to use it, what it needs, and what it will not tell you.
Recommended order
Ask what ScopeMCP can do to use scopemcp_get_tools. It returns the enabled catalogue, example questions, connection requirements and the service limits. It works before you connect anything.
Resolve the property first. For Search Console or Bing data, call scopemcp_list_properties and use the returned propertyId in every subsequent call. The propertyId is a ScopeMCP identifier, not a sc-domain: value.
Service limits
Limits are per workspace and shared across every agent and credential on it. They protect the upstream free tiers; they are not a usage meter.
| Limit | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Search data tools | 60 per minute | Protects Search Console and Bing quotas |
| URL inspection | 20 per minute | Google accepts one inspection per request |
| SEO analysis | 12 per minute | Each call makes several upstream pulls |
| Competitor engine | 10 per minute | Each call can consume the daily SERP quota |
| Competitor SERP quota | 100 result pages per UTC day | Free Google Programmable Search tier |
Cache hits are free
Performance reports are cached for six hours and CrUX for twenty-four. Re-asking the same question does not consume upstream quota, and neither does a monitor that reads a stored snapshot.
How a report is shaped
Every analysis tool returns a meta block with the same fields. Read it before quoting the answer.
meta.window— the dates actually searched. Search Console lags about three days, so windows end three days ago by default.meta.baselineWindow— the comparison window, when the tool made one.meta.upstreamCalls— which upstream APIs were called. If a call is missing, the number came from somewhere else.meta.cached— whether the answer came from cache rather than a fresh pull.meta.coverage— what ran and what did not.meta.limits— what the numbers cannot support. Quote these when they matter.
Failure modes worth knowing
Most "wrong answers" in this category are a tool used outside its window.
not_connected— the source is not linked, or the grant expired upstream. Reconnect in Settings → Sources.quota_exceeded— the free SERP tier is spent for the day. Reducelimitor wait for the UTC reset.rate_limited— the per-minute ceiling for that tool family. Wait the returnedretryAfterSeconds.invalid_arguments— the response lists the offending field and the expected schema.upstream_error— a provider failure, not a problem with your arguments. Retrying later usually works.unverifiedresults inside a competitor report — no live result page was fetched for that keyword. Do not report those as confirmed gaps.
The full catalogue
Every tool, with its parameters and what it returns, is listed in the tool directory. It is generated from the same definition the server serves from tools/list, so it cannot go out of date.
